Like, as much as it was an interesting song at the time, the charm kinda wears off after a while. That one is good, don't get me wrong, but for as much controversy as it has drummed up, it also felt pretty.safe. I began to realize just how much stronger of a song overall this was than MONTERO. But then it took the number one on the Hot 100, and everything flipped. I'll admit, during the first few months of this song's popularity, I wasn't really into it and was fully prepared to put M(CMBYN) in this spot. Then he released the video to this with a scene of him dancing with other naked men in prison being, big shocker, controversial. He really knew how to game the system in all of the correct ways, and it was an absolute delight to see every single bit of it unfold. And he continued that trend when he made his grand return at the beginning of the year with his second number one, MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name), what with the video and the Satan shoes and all that. Hell, that's the entire reason his breakout hit became the longest running number one hit of all time and is one of the biggest songs of all time to this day.
